The Newport Beach Film Festival Honors event at the iconic Balboa Bay Resort brought together Hollywood’s rising stars and legendary talent on a gorgeous Sunday afternnoon celebrating excellence in film and entertainment. Designed and executed by Gem Event Productions, the event balanced upscale coastal design with the complex logistics required for a high-profile celebrity experience.
The afternoon featured Variety Magazine’s prestigious “10 to Watch” honorees alongside acclaimed industry veterans, including Scarlett Johansson, Brendan Fraser, and Mark Hamill. As the live event production team, we were tasked with creating an atmosphere that felt both sophisticated and welcoming while maintaining the highest standards of security, privacy, and operational flow for celebrity guests and attendees. Every transition throughout the day was carefully planned to ensure movement between arrival, press moments, and the main event space remained effortless, secure, and discreet.
The design concept drew inspiration from Newport Beach’s coastal elegance, incorporating rich navy tones paired with navy-and-white cabana striped linens, gold chiavari chairs, and vibrant accents of orange and red California poppies throughout the space.
The result was a polished and energetic environment that reflected both the prestige of the Film Festival and the relaxed sophistication of Newport Beach.
